Patients and caregivers are
Jerry Matczak saw patient and caregivers as people with crucial expertise in living with chronic conditions or surviving serious health issues. He believed they have a critical role in driving innovation and finding solutions to problems in health care. He listened to patients. And he worked in partnership with them to bring new ideas into health care, in a framework of mutual respect and co-creation. Health care needs more people like Jerry. Will you join us? Will you #BeLikeJerry?

Jeri Burtchell, Patient Activist, Freelance WriterBrene Brown describes the very essence of Jerry and how he let himself be vulnerable right along with us. That was his gift to all of us -- his willingness to hurt with us. This is what empathy looks like. #BeLikeJerry
Julie Flygare, JD, Narcolepsy spokespersonOn the morning this photo was taken, Jerry said to me, "I wish we were working on a treatment for narcolepsy for you. I feel badly that we aren't!" It's a simple thing, isn't it? But he actually felt something for my experience and had the courage to say it out loud, even if it wasn't a perfect solution or easy answer. Just a few days ago, Jerry being Jerry, he made a generous donation to my marathon fundraising. I messaged to thank him for his incredible support. Of course, he wrote back the kindest message: "You are very welcomed Julie! It's a real privilege (and pleasure) to be inspired by you, and to be your friend!" No, Jerry, the privilege and pleasure was mine. In this crazy and busy world, thank you for being an amazing friend, MedX family member, and source of sanity and kindness for so many of us.
